My entry for AFBA 2025

With love, creativity & lots of autumn vibes

This autumn, it’s that time again – the Austrian Food Blog Award 2025 is just around the corner, and I’m absolutely thrilled to be taking part again! With lots of attention to detail, regional ingredients, and a big helping of creativity, I’ve submitted my entries for two of my favourite categories – and maybe one or two more will follow.

Category: Baking with Love – with support from Fini’s Feinstes

Recipe: Autumn Leaf Pumpkin Swiss Roll with Mascarpone & Cream Cheese Filling

Autumn is my favourite season – nature shows off its most beautiful colours, and the kitchen becomes warmer, spicier, cozier. That’s exactly the feeling I wanted to capture in my entry for “Baking with Love”.

The Autumn Leaf Pumpkin Swiss Roll combines the finest Fini’s Feinstes wheat flour, homemade pumpkin purée, my own pumpkin pie spice blend, and a delicate mascarpone & cream cheese filling. The highlight: the autumn leaf pattern, piped on by hand, makes the roll a real eye-catcher on any autumn table. 🍂
A recipe that’s simply spot-on in both looks and flavour – baked with lots of heart.

Category: Cucina Italiana – with support from Conte deCesare

Recipe: Ossobucco alla Zucca – Veal Shank with Pumpkin, Polenta & Lemon-Sage Gremolata

Tradition meets creativity – my autumn-inspired ossobucco brings Italian flavour in a seasonal outfit.
Tender, slow-braised veal shank in a rich red wine reduction with Hokkaido pumpkin, root vegetables, aromatic herbs, and a wonderfully creamy polenta with Parmesan. The fresh finishing touch comes from the lemon & sage gremolata.

A dish that smells like autumn, tastes like a Sunday braise – and deliberately plays with ingredients from Italy and Austria.
Thanks to Conte deCesare for the wonderful products that give the recipe its final finishing touch.

More entries may follow…

I’m still full of ideas – maybe I’ll add an entry for the other categories too. Who knows? There’s plenty of inspiration – and the joy of creative cooking and baking is bigger than ever!

Conclusion & looking forward

Even though AFBA isn’t about winning, but about creative exchange, trying things out, and sharing culinary passion – a little excitement is, of course, part of it!
In any case, I’m really looking forward to the award ceremony, to all the wonderful entries from the other bloggers – and to seeing who comes out on top this year. 🏆

Thanks to the sponsors, the jury, and the whole team behind the Austrian Food Blog Award – and to you readers for cheering along & trying out my recipes. 💛

Stay tuned – new recipes are guaranteed to follow!
