Participation in the Austrian Food Blog Award 2024

With passion, creativity & a great deal of attention to detail

…last year I had the great pleasure of being part of the AFBA 2024 – Austrian Food Blog Award – one of the most important competitions for food bloggers in Austria. Even though I didn’t make it onto the podium, participating was a wonderful experience that inspired and motivated me to continue my journey in the food blogging world.

Because as they say: Taking part is everything! And I’m proud to share my creative entries with you:

Cucina Italiana – with Conte de Cesare

Chanterelle Arancini with Chanterelle Bolognese Risotto

For this category, I created a real comfort food dish: crispy arancini filled with an aromatic risotto made from local chanterelles. Served with a delicate mushroom bolognese – Italian enjoyment with a regional touch.

Redcurrant Vanilla Slice with Meringue Topping

A sweet temptation: shortcrust pastry base, delicate vanilla cream, fruity redcurrants, and a light, crispy meringue topping. This pastry was not only a visual highlight but also a loving tribute to classic Austrian desserts with a modern twist.

Recipe for Success – with support from Volksbank

Apricot Pancakes with Caramelized Apricots, Pumpkin Seed Parfait, and Pumpkin Seed Crunch

This dessert was my personal favorite dish: fluffy pancakes filled with fruity apricots, accompanied by a creamy parfait made from Styrian pumpkin seeds and a crunchy topping. A balanced dessert with traditional flavors – given a modern interpretation.

My Conclusion on AFBA 2024

Even though I didn’t win a prize in 2024 – it was a celebration of inspiration! I gathered many new ideas, discovered exciting food blogs, and connected with the community. Now I’m even more excited about AFBA 2025 and getting creative again.
